The Dutch word for a pub is 'cafe'. If there is one thing that Tilburg has a lot of, then it's cafes, bars and clubs. So you will always find one you like. Much of Tilburg's nightlife is concentrated around the Piusplein, Heuvel and Korte Heuvel. Some are a bit specific but if you are looking for a nice glass of beer or wine you will find many 'cafes' near the centre of Tilburg around 'De Heuvel'.

Dress Code: No strict rules except for some, but you will notice at the entrance.

I usually sleep at nights, but there are a few excellent bars that may keep you going until they close. I recommend Buitenbeentje and Kandinsky. Neither of these places are of the dull but noisy 'trendy' type. Both offer a wide selection of great beers, with Buitenbeentje having several British beers as well as many beers from Belgium and the Netherlands. At this pub I prefer to sit outside as inside it gets very smokey even though its usually not crowded. Buitenbeentje can be very enjoyable for the music as well, with songs from Neil Young and Frank Zappa (to name just two) regularly passing by. It's very close to the 013 music hall. If you decide to sit inside, don't be scared by the other visitors. None of them bite even though they may look a bit shady.
Kandinsky has especially many beers from Belgium and the Netherlands, as well as a few from Canada and France. It has a good ventilation-system, but make sure to arrive in time if you want to sit. The music usually is the same filler other popular bars will play, although thankfully not as loud.
A third can be added to these two. Zomerlust is found in the rural eastern part of Tilburg and has a fabulous collection of beers, some of which you can't find anywhere else in the city. Only it is a bit expensive, and often lacks atmosphere. Great to sit on the terrace in the Summer though.

Dress Code: Wear a suit and tie to Buitenbeentje and everybody will think you're the village. For Kandinsky it is OK to be just who you are too.

    Kadinsky's: Wanna Try a different bier ?

by RPW Written Apr 23, 2004

Kadinsky's bar is a dream bar if you like different beers. It's like going in to a restaurant, looking at a menu and deciding between dishes, in Kadinsky's you do this with beer. They have a menu and its extensive, it has Dutch beer, Belgian, German, Polish, Scottish and even English. On the menu you are given the name, country of origin and the strength of the beer, so don't just dive in and try. Like in most Dutch cafes depending on the beer you choose you are usually given a glass for the respective brewery that you have chosen, this is all the more remarkable in here because of the amount of choices, you don't always get a glass with the name of the beer but on more occassions than not you will. It's certainly worth a visit.

    Dress Code: Casual and relaxed.

    Clancy's: Best Irish Pub

by Imaniac Written Apr 8, 2003

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This is the best Irish pub in Tilburg. It is located in the center of the city, near concert hall 013. The prices are a bit above average. But then again there are over 150 brands of whisky. And there's good music as well

    Tribunal: Touring

The Korte Heuvel is a little street off the Heuvel ring area of the centre of Tilburg. There are many cafes and restaurants around here, most of which have an outdoor seated area which provides some entertainment in itself. From here you can people watch, one of the cafes actually has a balcony from which you can tower over people. It get's fairly busy in this area though and in the warm summer evenings most of the outdoor seats are taken fairly quickly.

Dress Code: Nothing out of the ordinary, except when the carneval is on - then it's got to be something special !!

Breexz is one of the trendiest cocktail bars in town. And it's conveniantly located at the train station. The interior is very modern, with lots of 50's-like furniture. A must go for the hip and trendy.

Breexz is most famous for it's special cocktails. You can also get a bite to eat here. You can get a day dish for 6,50 Euros.

Opened every day from around 9 in the morning to 10 in the evening.

by Raggi Updated Jan 12, 2005

now I visited more than 15 bars, cafes and restaurant in TIlburg in the last weeks.

I don`t like the dart-pubs which you see everywhere, so I was very happy to find a new living room: devlining

It is quite a stylish place but very, very comfortable, although the fireplace is produced by a projector.
YOu will love the different kind of sofas and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. Chill out!

Nice choice of wine and Spanish tapas.

I wish I would have this place in Munich

    Polly Maggoo: Korte Heuvel

by discoverwin Updated Sep 28, 2003

This is a typical dutch pub with good music.
The music they play is rock and wave music.
swing it out with a beer in your hand.
You can also have a great meal in the restaurant above the pub.

    Dress Code: None.
