    Reptilian Adventure

The plaque next to the entrance

Tucked away unconspiciuously in a quiet area of this city you'll find "de Oliemeulen", a tiny zoo which calls itself a reptilian zoo, but which has a collection of other animals as well. Other inhabitants are for instance birds of prey, raccoons and tiny monkeys. Several velociraptors standing guard at various places among the bamboo, give the place a Jurassic touch. The zoo is known for its shows with the birds of prey, snakes and .....tarantulas, for those with strong nerves or Indiana Jones genes.

Tilburg has no real zoo. It used to have one, long ago, but that's not much help. There are alternatives though. Nearby, just over the Hilvarenbeek municipality border, is safari park De Beekse Bergen, where you can enjoy watching animals that are not locked in cages because you yourself will be locked inside a car or a bus. And in Tilburg itself you can visit De Oliemeulen, an old farm building filled with reptiles, spiders and other creepy creatures. Find out what it's like to feel a snake in your neck. Or let a bird spider walk over your hand. If you want. I didn't. I don't like spiders.

Opened every day from 10 to 18 h.

    the Owl

poison frogs, flying dogs, owls, spiders etc. is the decor of a very exceptional zoo.
The biggest reptile collection in Europe.
You can even touch a spider and get a snake around your neck.
    Great for children!!

In one of the last monumental farms of Tilbrug you will find a collection living reptiles, who because of their diversity give you the feeling that you are making a trip through the world of reptiles and amfibiens.
