Characteristic for The Netherlands is the great variety of many things in such a small country. This fact is caused by the complicated history as well as the big rivers that split the country (Maas, Rhine and IJssel).
One of the things that vary significantly from place to place is the style of traditional farms. The pictures show some farms just outside Veghel; they are typical farms of eastern Brabant.
Favorite thing: The "Zuid Willemsvaart" is an artificial channel dug in the first half of the nineteenth century. There are two branches in Veghel: one that leads to the container terminal and one that leads to the tourist's harbour close to Veghel's center. The pictures on this page show the latter branch. There are some historical industrial buildings on the north side.
Favorite thing: The "Heilig Hart" church is the second largest catholic church in Veghel, and is about to be demolished. The church's tower will be preserved. The church was built in the nineteenfiftees.
