Canals & Houseboats, Amsterdam
Favorite thing: The first thing you notice about Amsterdam is the water. Water, water everywhere, as Coleridge put it. The canals that keep Amsterdam from being underwater serve as boulevards for the myriad of boats that glide their way across the softly-flowing water. Along the sides of the canals stand tall townhomes, constructed throughout the years by the merchant burghers who funded an empire.
See the canals, specially in summer, walking in a very romantic city where everything is possible...but, watch out for pickpocketing! Act like you live in Amsterdam and nothing bad will happen. Amsterdam is relaxed and easy-going.
Fondest memory: When I am away I miss the easy live, the special humor of the people from Amsterdam and the feeling that you can do what you want. There are a lot of nice cafe's, restaurants and bars.
Amsterdamhas somany lovely canals and at nights they look sowonderful,so picturesque...
This city has a real charm..
Favorite thing: Walk along the canals at night. The bridges are beautifully lit. Don't forget to bring your tripod. You will need it.
Have a walk along the canals after dark. The lights reflecting in the water are so beautiful. Many of the 1000 bridges are lit.
A great way to walk of dinner and to take some nice pictures.
a view at canal Amstel with on the right side theatre Carré, a very famous theatre.
It was a suprise for me to find it their along the Amstel.
Favorite thing: This photo of one of the many canals in Amsterdam was taken while we were on a boat tour of the city...it was great to drive through the canals...
Favorite thing: Another view of the canals in Amsterdam from the boat tour we went on... It's a great way to see a different view of the city...
While walking around amsterdam you can see interesting transport vehicles on the canals..
Here is a wooden shoe as a boat..
Favorite thing: We came across Weepers Tower while we were on our boat tour...unfortunately I didn't write down what this place is used for...
Favorite thing: Wander the streets of Amsterdam...you will see a photo waiting everywhere you look! Amsterdam is a fantastic place for a photographer!
Favorite thing: First day, in the afternoon we spent most of our time enjoying Amsterdam, walking through most of the streets and canals.
Fondest memory: The sun shone that brightly on this tower, it was nicer to photograph just his reflection in the canal.
Take a cruise down the Amstel River, the sights are much better this way than on foot.
The commentaries can be fairly brief and lacking on detail though.
Fondest memory: One thing that gives Amsterdam something very special is the boathouses that boost all around in the canals (about 2,500!). This is normal boathouse in Amsterdam....and it even have a flower garden!
