When you reach to Dam square, dont forget to turn back and look to the Damrak... Cause on the way back you will use a paralel street next to damrak..
And it is always good to look back.. You wont miss the nice girls :))
When you turn to right on the Dam square you will see the national building.. The building is only there for tourists to take some pictures in front ;)..
Many entertainments are taking place here in summer time... and it is the place for street art and entertainment...
When you reached to Dam square on your left is the Monument and just a bit a head is the Dam street.
Another busy street of Amsterdam is the dam street.. it is lively 24hrs.. it is also the main street leading to the Red light district.. So almost al vtors to Amsterdam do pass from this street..
The street is also the place where you might start to spot Coffeeshops..:))
Favorite thing: When you take the road from Central station till Dam square and contine straight to Rokin.. you will see many shops, however the main place for shopping is the paralel street to these streets, which is closed for traffic and pedestrians can walk..
Fondest memory: This picture is taken in Damrak - a big square with several tourist attractions. Behind us in the picture is the palace and a temporary ice skating rink with artificial snow. There are some stalls around selling donut, nuts, sugar floss, waffles, sausages, etc.
Dam Square, but I'm no expert, it's just the nearest place on the map to where I actually live, 10 miles north of The Haig (Den Haag).
Fondest memory: The day I visited it during Koninginindag. the place is wild.
But for a REAL TREAT, check out Leiden on October 3 (any year) and the 2-3 days leading up to it.
Favorite thing: Dam Square is Amsterdam's largest plaza so you must see it! It's surrounded by Hotels, Bars and the Red Light District. So there you go, plenty to do! ; )
I think this is the most famous monument of Amsterdam.
You can find it at the centre.
It is the national monument, here is every year at 4 may the national death commemoration
Favorite thing: The birds had a great sitting place overlooking 'De Dam'.
The dam is the central square of the city. Here you will find the palace, and the monument on the dam.
It is also the place where demonstrations are held frequently.
Favorite thing: I don't think the Dutch royal family lives here but the palace is used for ceremonial purposes these days.
Favorite thing: Check out all the backpackers and foreign potheads on Damark Street. This is the major street off of Centraal Station. It's lined with fast food, currency exchanges, and souvenir shops.
Dam Square (at least that's what I think it's called).
Here you can find some street performers, and many pigeons.
Favorite thing: The Dam Square....according to my friend Edith, the heart of Amsterdam...Lots of lovely buildings and monuments around it.
A live view of Dam Square, the center of Amsterdam.
