Alto Jazz Club, Amsterdam
See the websites of these recommended bars with live music for more info!
Hans Dulfer, father of Candy Dulfer, plays here every Wednesday evening (http://www.hansdulfer.nl/)
http://www.bimhuis.nl/ for jazz concerts.
When you arrive at this tiny bar along Korte Leidsedwarsstraat, you will hear Jazz music filtering through the crowd. This little jazz bar features live music everynight... and if you go often, it is easy to get to know the musicians.
Get a scotch, or beer as you please, find a seat, and enjoy. This a great spot to relax with friend or alone.
Watch for Frank, the "local Winnipeger" turned Amsterdammer. Depending on who is playing he may be allowed to sing a tune or two.
This place has a great mix of locals and tourists... and the atmosphere is perfect.
It opens at 9pm and closes at 3am... so be ready for a late night ;)
The Alto Jazz Club has the best live Jazz in Amsterdam. However, if you want a seat get there early because it didn't seem to matter which night we visited the place was packed.
Dress Code: Clothes are always recommended but otherwise I think about anything goes.
Travellers from France whom we met on the train recommend cafe Alto and Bamboo for the jazz music. They said that the music is good there. But trying one of those boat restaurants seems to be a nice idea.
