Although you might find it a bit overdone and fake, there's no denying that Café Cuba has done a great deal to evoke the sultry spirit of Hemingway's Havana. The music is lively, as is the crowd. It's all very friendly and the mojito's are reasonably priced. Alcohol in general is quite cheap here, which is a great plus!
Dress Code: It's popular with the late-twenty and thirtysomething working crowd, so you get the picture.
Eating and Drinking: Café Cuba
A cosy small but long bar with a lot of b&w photos at the walls. Mixed guests from everywhere, quite good drinks, but when it´s full, you better order your drinks at the bar, the service was not that quick. Prices are ok. averaged.

Cafe Cuba: Decent bar with good rum
Cafe Cuba is a small bar located at Niewmarkt. There's nothing spectacular about the bar: it's rather small, service is just ok and the crowd is not that exciting.
They do however, have a good selection or rums; so I would come here from time to time when I was in the neighbourhood with friends towards the end of the night for a nightcap or two :)
Amsterdam has some great pubs...
Amsterdam has some great pubs and cafes.
Some really nice ones with a mixture of Dutch locals, foreign locals and tourists:
Tabac at the corner of Prinsengracht and Brouwersgracht, The Tara on Rokin (Irish pub with good meals and beers), Thijssen on Elandsgracht, CUba on Nieuwmarkt and the Vergulde Gaper on Prinsengracht.
Dress Code: All casual.
Café Cuba: Just stay away
Has an very nice location, but very hard to get a place to sit, and the staff is quite unfriendly and rude. Does not know how to mix cocktails anymore. This used to be my favorite bar to get Cocktails in Amsterdam, and you knew that you got value for your money.
This time, I had to complaint about my Cocktail, and the staff told that is how they actually MAKE an cocktail... So I will never take my friends that is over for an visit here ever again, never been so embarrassed in my whole life!!! Please get back the staff that was there last year!
