We came to this small venue situated away from the centre of the city to see The Rifles. We ended up seeing a great local band called Moss who were performing live on the radio (3FM) and were interviewed by DJ Eric Corton. It is a tiny venue but a great place to meet locals! Open Wednesdays 10pm til 1pm. (Last tram back to the city centre is at ten past 12 so be warned!)

We go to Amsterdam for a few days each year...the first time we went we stumbled (and of course I mean stumbled) upon this bar....once we got over the fact that we were the only "non-locals"in the place and the music started, it was time to kick back and chill. Seven nights a week they offer live music and there is never a cover, ever. Some really great jam sessions and an eclectic mix of people.....the beer is cold and frothy and smoking is acceptable of course. The last two yrs we have seen some of the same musicians perform...and they are excellent....each yr this is a must place to go...its very laid back of course, not crowded, and has sort of a home like feel. Sorta like Rookies Cafe (for those who have been there) but a bit bigger and less emphasis on the smoke. This ones in the red light district but off the beaten path of the red lights. Enjoy and Cheers! I wanted to update this quickly.....the location in the red light district has actualy closed down or moved. The new location is a little further away from the train station or dam square....but not too far.....its actualy across the stret from a pretty well know dinner show called "Boom Chicago"...so look for ads for that....again, it is right nexr door...you cant miss it. It is quite easy to walk to OR take the tram.....go up to Leidersplien (a square about a 15 minute walk from the dam square)...its right there....one of my fav places to hang out at night...or just simply swing by for a beer.
Anything Goes.....Dont over dress or you'll stick out for sure.....Jeans and a tshirt. Leave a Comment Theme: Live MusicDirections: Just on the edge of the red light district....more towards the train station than anything....look it up, you'll find it.

by ingridf_nl Whether you want to dance the night away, or catch a live act, this is a great place to go. Paradiso used to be a church and is now a great club. This great venue has great dance nights but also features some great performers in a much smaller venue than I was accustomed to seeing them in Canada. Outside of music, this venue also hosts a lot of different multimedia events. Leave a Comment Theme: Live MusicAddress: Weteringschans 6-8Directions: LeidsepleinWebsite: www.paradiso.nl

me leaving maxims! by johngayton "Louche" is one of my favourite words, and perfectly describes "Maxims" If you don't understand the word - read on! "Louche" means classy - with just a hint of, not rough, but close to a word i'm looking for - and not degenerate either - at 3 a.m. words are dificult to find - that's Maxims! This is a piano bar just off Liedseplien - and is a brill place!!! Ask the piano man to play a song - put a note in his jar ( small change not a good idea! ) and he will serande you and your partner ( whoever she may be! ) And the drinks aren't that expensive either!
Didn't notice any formal code but, as usual - women wearing as little as weather will allow will always be welcombe! Blokes - don't have to suit themselves! The pic is actually a photo of a detail from a poster which is from Maxims (visit to see a very interesting poster - either me or Maxims (see 1st dress code preferably!!! LOL :)) Leave a Comment Theme: Live MusicAddress: Leidsche Kruisstraat 35Directions: Side street off Liedseplien, on left facing away from town. Follow your ears!Website: pianobar.nl

by BlueBerry_7 It is a local coffeeshop but many tourists have already discovered it and come back to this place for it's laid back atmosphere, full bar and large seating spaces. They have a DJ every night from 9pm until closing. Every Sunday the party starts at 4 pm with a DJ and free snacks.

Heineken Music Hall by Jarin Since the opening in March 2001 major performers from both the Netherlands and abroad have already played many concerts here. The main hall, known as the Black Box, was specially designed for concerts and is said having the best acoustic from whole Europe. It has a large foyer and there is plenty of parking possibilities, as in the very near area are 7 parking buildings with space for 9.000 cars. The Heineken Music Hall is easily accessible by public transport (train, metro, bus), car, motorcycle or bicycle.
