We had a great night seeing this fabulous new band and their support act - Ian Archr - an Irish solo singer/guitarist.
We were a bit worried that not many people would turn up but as it was the place was packed and the music was great and everyone had a good time.
Tickets cost 10E - but if you are lucky a nice friend might pay for you :)) I think you need to to buy a monthly pass to get tickets for gigs here. Check the website for more info.

With over 1000 performances of bands and DJ's in two concert halls every year, the Melweg is by far Holland's the most active club.
The programme particularly features the latest rock and dance music, also many prominent bands and DJ's have made their debut here. The dance programs in Melkweg are always exciting and very crowded.

Great place to go out. There is a dance and Pop arena. The dance part mostly plays rap and that type of music, whereas the Pop arena plays music like rock, pop and oldies. Melkweg is a spot where it's nice to look at other people, becasue there is really a variety in the sort of public it attracts.

It is Amsterdam's biggest multi-functional entertainment venue.
The Melkweg, (Milky way) is not only very central, it also offers music, drama, movies, a weekend disco, a bar and a restaurant. Although this converted brewery looks huge, inside there are three smaller stages so avid fans can get close to their favourite band. The Melkweg is the main venue for The Amsterdam Roots Festival, an annual world music event in mid-June, with acts from Senegal, Sudan and elsewhere performing until the early hours of the morning. The annual music and writing festival, Crossing Borders is also held here, (one amongst five other local venues involved), and it's worth coming to Amsterdam for this every November.s
Forthcoming events include the Amsterdam Dance Event in mid October.

Melkweg
Melkweg has several different rooms for music with live bands and dance parties. They also have a cinema showing a variety of films including cult classics. I went to the Melkweg for both a show, The Slackers, and a movie, Repulsion. I had a really good time and would recommend everyone check this place out!
