The most beautiful coffeeshop that I visited during my seven trips to Amsterdam is "Global Chillage" on Kerkstraat, right off the Leidesplein. It is very small and out-of-the-way and easy to miss since it is on a quiet side-street. It has original artwork for walls, handpainted murals by a very talented individual, and the music is ambient and lovely. The staff is friendly, the customers are chill, and the atmosphere is perfect. Also they have really good chai. This is my all-time favorite coffeeshop and I highlt reccomend it to those who like this sort of atmosphere. Leave a Comment Phone: 631-632-7587

What have we here? by MBDVB As far as coffeeshops go in Amsterdam, Grey Area is about as good as it gets. They have a small, but potent menu. If you wish to smoke in the big leagues, the Grey Area is the place to go. From the Dam, (Dam Square), walk to the Mozes en Aronstraat and continue past the famous Royal Palace. Cross and go right on the street behind the Royal Palace, Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal. Turn left at the first straat on your left-hand side Molsteeg. Now cross the Spuistraat, and walk straight through on Torensteeg. Cross the Singel over the bridge and enter the straat that you are facing now, the Oude Leliestraat. You will find Grey Area on the right-hand side of the straat at Oude Leliestraat 2. Looking at the picture, the building on the corner at left is Puccini Chocolates. Nol Van Schaik by BlueBerry_7 Haarlem, just a short train ride away, quaintly beautiful little town, that most people overlook when traveling to Holland. Full of restuarants, shopping, and cultural history, Haarlem is well worth a day trip, or two. This is my location of choice for accommodation, mainly because of the more laid back atmosphere and it is cheaper! Nol in front of the former location of Willie Wortel Workshp. Now newly renamed Willie Wortel Sinsemilla Coffeeshop and relocated to the Houtplien, with all the same neon signs . Leave a Comment

Global Hemp Museum by BlueBerry_7 The Global Hemp Museum in Haarlem is a very nice and interesting place with all the information available on the wonderful cannabis plant. There is even a few plants growing inside and although they don't sell weed or hash you can certainly smoke your own while visiting the museum if you like. Leave a Comment

Yanks Coffeeshop, Zandvoort by BlueBerry_7 Yanks is a very nice and spacious coffeeshop. There is a gameroom, downstairs and lots of additional tables upstairs. On the ground floor the tables have teepees over them which is real cool, the whole place is an Indian theme. Also there is a bar area where they serve alcohol and lots of outside tables which is nice to enjoy, weather permitting of course. Leave a Comment

nieuwendijk-street-amsterdam by RoyJava It would take too much to put this "tip" under "Local Customs" because of its coffeeshops and the cannabis you can get there, familiar with all locals. The Nieuwendijk is one of the oldest shoppings street in Amsterdam with some good shops today. Included C&A, H&M, We, shops for shoes, knick-knack, some good fast-food restaurants, and Tip De Bruin, a tiptop design boutique. When reaching the Nieuwendijk for a walk to Singel (canal street) you'll pass the notorious area where the shops look like colorful, exotic places, with a touch out of the 60's. They include the tainted tea- & coffeeshops, so famous for its liberty today ... Leave a Comment

Yo Yo by Docu2001 Yo Yo is a friendly, neighborhood spot to chill ... It is way off the beaten path ... so no screaming teenies. It is a grown-up, laid-back kind of place. The apple pie is amazing and the selection of things smokeable is just about right ... all are organic. Yo Yo is a short walk away from the Albert Cuypmarkt - a daily open-air street market which is worth a visit. The market has every kind of fish and cheese and bread and thingy ... and on a very cold Amsterdam morning, you might even want to pick up a pair of long cotton underwear for less than 5Euro. Marcel shows his stuff by BlueBerry_7 Also the best coffeeshops are in Haarlem, the three Willie Wortel's Coffeeshops owned by Nol are the one's to go to. Great prices, great weed, great people! Here is Marcel, manager of the Sinsemilla, showing his stuff. He is very proud of all his merchandise! Leave a Comment

Willie Wortel Sativa by BlueBerry_7 Right at the Haarlem station, the Sativa is the most convenient coffeeshop to hit after getting off the train. This place stays very busy due to the location, so don't be surprised to see a line out the door!! As the name indicates, they specialize in sativa strains so you can find the authentic Thai Sticks here. Leave a Comment
