  • Suggest avoiding white tennis shoes

by ACoolJeweledMoon Written May 5, 2006 13 reviews

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: I had read that wearing white tennis shoes would label you as an American tourist, and it appeared that it was probably a true statement. I wore boots, and my boyfriend wore his tennis shoes the first day, but by the second he was wearing some black shoes! (But after all that walking, he was back into the white tennis shoes!) And I would definitely suggest the white tennis shoes over heels! (And be sure to watch where you are walking so you don't have to clean any dog poo off your shoes!)

    One for the Ladies

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Luggage and bags: Most male and female Amsterdammers use satchels, they seem to be very popular here.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Wear flat shoes when walking around the city. My high heel shoes got caught in tramlines and it broke :( On the other hand, it meant having to go shoe shopping in one of the world's most funkiest cities!! (darn it!) ;-p

    Comfortable Flat Shoes

by imjustsaying Written Sep 25, 2004 11 reviews

Luggage and bags: Many hotels don't have lifts/elevators. Check in advance or be sure you are able to lift your own luggage!

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Be sure to bring comfortable flat shoes. Unless your riding a bike everywhere, this is a total walking city. However, the extensive cobblestone doesn't match well with heels.
    Be sensible!

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Most hotels don't supply much in the way of toiletries (compared at lease to what is common in North America). Be sure to bring your own essentials
