Indian/Thai/Malaysian/Vietnamese Restaurants: Best Thai in the Northern Hemisphere

BIRD is a tiny Thai snack bar with a kitchen on one end and a lot of squashed happy customers on the other.

Its very popular and is always busy, the food is amazing and there is plenty of it.

Favorite Dish: As I was only in Amsterdam for a few days I only got to eat at BIRd once. I had Pad Thai and it was lovely. I would totally recommend this place to anyone who loves traditional Thai food....Mmmmmm; yummy!

Highly recommended by the folks at New Amsterdam tours, as was told to check it out by both Stacey and Kevin, we decided to check it out. We had just missed the main restaurant but the waiter who addressed us was carrying food across the street to their smaller restaurant (called a snack bar) across the street - which was sooo packed it was hard to get in and sit. Everyone stated it was the best thai food in the world ... I can't make that claim, although they were good. I've had better pad thai in the States even. But still a highly recommended restaurant for Amsterdam. Its crowded and hard to get in as their reputation proceeds them. Rating: 4 stars out of 5.

    Favorite Dish: pad thai

  • The Bird: Thai in the China town of Amsterdam

The Bird is a one room restaurant (thai snack bar)-the kitchen is in the middle of the restaurant. If you are in a hurry to see Amsterdam, this place is a good spot. You don't need to wait for long when the splendid dishes are served. And while waiting you can enjoy both the cooking maken the meals and the rare streetlife of the Zeedijk. If you want to have a more relaxt diner you can always choose to have diner on the oposite of the street where the sister restaurant (with the same name but then restaurant) is located.
