De Vergulde Gaper - Café, Amsterdam

Walking by here (I was staying nearby on a houseboat) on a friday night, it was really hopping---music flowing out the door and patrons literally blocking the street for a time----this seems like a really cool opportunity to commune with the locals when near the Prinsengracht!

Favorite Dish: local beer

An excellent place for lunch. A wide variety of rolls, 5 or 6 different salads, soup of the day available as well.
Very friendly staff.
Weather permitting you can sit outside on the terrace. If you are lucky you may even spot some Dutch celebrities - walking/cycling by or even sitting at the table next to yours!
