Just an inside tip I got from the Dutch Tourist board.
Japanase Pancake World is the only restaurant of this kind outside of Japan. Hiroshima, Osaka and negi-Yaki pankaces are served. The pancakes are famous for their multiple layers of toppings. The Hiroshima pancake is finished off with a layer of fried noodles, accompanied by a fried egg and garnished with seaweed flakes.
Daily: 12AM - 10PM
Favorite Dish: Pancakes.
A nice place for a casual lunch or dinner, just a few minutes' walk from the Westerkerk and Anne Frank Huis. Tasty, fresh, and wholesome -- and not expensive either. The only drawback is the seating... there are no chairs, only uncomfortable wooden stools.
We have a Japanese restaurant or two in Cardiff, and one of our favourite dishes is the pancakes, so when we found 'Japanese Pancake World' website on the internet before our trip to Amsterdam, it was top of our list of restaurants to try.
It's only a small restaurant with about 6 tables and a couple on the street. They have a bewildering choice of pancakes, (and nothing else really), and although the food was quite slow coming it was very tasty and definitely a change from the norm.
