La Palace - Amsterdam Biblotheek (Library): Great view from 7th floor of the library

    4 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

On the 7th floor of the modern library nearby Amsterdam Centraal station is this self service restaurant. The food looks really healthy and fresh, a chap was enjoying a large plate piled high with a variety of salads which cost about Eur6.
There is a covered terrace you can get sweeping views of the southside of the city.

We had 2 cappucinos, a slice of fruit cake & a slice of nut crusted apple tart they were enormous and very tasty for only EUR9.

    Open 7 days a week from 10am to 10pm

    It opened in July 2007.

Cafe La Place: Cheery cafe in the library (Bibliotheek)

Here's an idea for an inexpensive mid-day meal in Central Amsterdam: the self-serve cafeteria in the shiny new Public Library. This is run by the same firm that operates other similar establishments through Amsterdam and the Netherlands. Plenty of fresh ingredients here, with an emphasis on food that is made on site - NOT previously "processed" by some anonymous "food service corporation." I like that. The dining hall is quite handsome too.

Wine and beer available, as well as a full range of coffee drinks and juices.

The cafe is on one of the top floors of the library - a nice touch. I think it's the fifth floor.
