The Sampurna, in Amsterdam, was given a makeover a couple of months back (March 2008).
It now has a new, contemporary, feel - new decor, furniture, bamboo floors, crockery & cutlery, even the gents / ladies toilets have been totally refurbished and upgraded. A thorough professional job all round.
The only thing that has not changed is the great food and service.
If you like Indonesian food, you'll love the Sampurna!
Favorite Dish: Crispy half-chicken with sauce.
How to describe the taste? Can't do. Rather like attempting to listen to a colour! Try it with boiled rice and wash it all down with a half-bottle of Salice Salentino. Yeah!
This place is a MUST for anyone who would like to taste an original Indonesian food. We were looking for an Indonesian restaurant and this place, without knowing its reputation, really satisfied us. The menu is with variety. The price is reasonable. The taste is incredible! Some dips or dishes could be spicy for those who are not familiar with spicy taste...but I was dying already when I dipped those vegetarian crackers in the three spicy Indonesian dips...
The ambiance is quite nice esp for dinner - dim lights with candles. The service is also good...the lady was very helpful and smiling.
It's located right in the middle of the flower market...opens from 12-10.30pm.
Very small indonesian restaurant on the Singel at the Bloemenmarkt, or Flower Market. Gret to be able to sit and have a good rijstaffel and a few beers while watching Amsterdam pass by looking at the flower stalls.
Favorite Dish: Just a good rijstaffel and beer!
