An authentic Indonesian cuisine from Java, Sumatra, and Bali. A small space with attractive decor and fine china. You will have to ring a bell which I found amusing. Informed servers, friendly and accomodating. The food is consistently good with well balanced spicing, however beware - if it says super hot it is SUPER HOT!!! .
For a true taste of Indonesia, consider a rijsttafel, the 'rice table' that features a variety of savory dishes.
Main courses 14€-25€ ; rijsttafel 27€-35€ ; fixed-price menu 27€-43€
I enjoyed the best Nasi Koening I've had in Amsterdam here at Tempo. Very small, and with an authentic and unpretentious ambiance. The rijstaffel is said to be made onlyusing traditional methods with only the freshest of ingredients... and I would have to agree! Loved it! Reservations are preferred, but I was able to get a seat when I just showed up...

Nasi Koening... the best I've had in Amsterdam! Too much to list! Look at their special menu selections!
The restaurant is small but as you enter (ring the bell first) the atmosphere looks nice and the smell is delicious. We did not expect to find it very crowdy even on Monday, though ti was very recommended.
