Tujuh Maret: Same Kitchen as Tempo Deoleo but cheaper
Cheaper and less formal than Tempo Deoloe but shares the same kitchen.
The atmosphere is decent but definitely not luxurious, since it mostly is a takeout place for locals. Still, the restaurant is cozy and the wait staff is super-friendly.
Favorite Dish: Order a rijsttafel (rice table), a dutch invention that is a collection of many small dishes.
Otherwise a good choice is sate with spicy peanut sauce (chicken or pork). It's incredibly tasty.
Or chicken roedjak, a spicy red pepper-and-coconut sauce,
Or beef rendang, a spicy sauce with stewed beef.
Or Krupuk (shrimp chips...delicious)
along with a nice beer to complement the exotic flavors.
Tujuh Maret: Eat Indonesian
It is very worthwhile to go out for Indonesian food while you are in Amsterdam.
This particular restaurant is on Utrechtsestraat. The food is SO GOOD. Any of the rijsttafel with their incredible assortment of dishes that you can indulge in are very worth your diligent time and attention ;)
This little restaurant only seats 20 or so... but you will be glad that you came.
