Everytime when I stay in Amsterdam I go to Upstairs. They cook the best pancake. The staffs are very friendly and the service is the best in Amsterdam.
To climb up the stairs is an adventure, to go down you will be very careful.
The decoration with a lot of teapots it´s very nice.
I like the atmosphere.
Favorite Dish: Pancakes
Yes, it is up some very steep stairs, located close to the bottom of the Red Light District, I go to this place every trip I make to A'Dam. Arno is the owner and Louie is usually there cooking fresh pancakes. I usually ask what the special is, usually some fresh fruit topping with fresh cream on top...MMMMMMMMM! A cuppa Earl Grey alongside and I am ready for another hour or so walking the canals.
Sept-2010 update---Arno still there but Louie is gone---his arthritis did not agree with those stairs---the fresh blackberry and creme pancake and the earl grey from Arno were still excellent and filling----when it arrived to my table, the 3-4 people around all gasped at its beauty---wish I had taken a pic!
Favorite Dish: Whatever the fresh fruit special pancake is for the day.
Smallest restaurant in Europe for sure. At the very top of some very steep stairs is a fantastic pancake place with huge delicious pancakes which are very appetising. Sweet or savoury pancakes can be enjoyed here
This place is typically local food & very quaint here you can see a lovely collection of queens memrobilia
Queens pancake is their house special. Do note the pancake house is only open friday & weekends.
