    by pieter_jan_v Written Oct 11, 2013

Old Amsterdam is a rather new cheese brand of the Westland cheese factory of Gouda.

In the center of Amsterdam there are a number of Old Amsterdam cheese shops at:
    -Dam 2
    -Sigel 490

    Business hours: Daily 9AM - 7PM

Kaashandel Wout Arxhoek: Say "Cheeeeeese" !

by Bilimari Written Jun 13, 2005

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

I wasn't particularly looking for a cheese shop nor even thinking of buying cheese, but the shop and the smell of cheese reminded of the smoked ham cheese that I purchased when I was in Amsterdam a few years ago.

As all cheese specialty shops in Amsterdam, they offer a variety of cheeses in different colors, shapes, textures, and flavors.

What to buy: Cheese, cheese, and cheese!

What to pay: Much cheaper than department stores and even Duty Free shops at the airport.

What to buy: Holland is a cheese country. Some of the best cheeses come from here - Edem, Emental.....

Cheese is widely sold in Amsterdam, they even sell it in small gift & souvenir shops. They have small ball shaped packed cheeses in wax, so it doesn't make and strange smells and survives the travles easily. My favourite are cheese with green pepper and smoked cheese. Yummy!
