A smallish shop on Damrak.that also sells s Tee/Football shirts and other local Souvenirs, including Cheese, drinks etc.
. Dont be put off by this, his chocolates are out of this world. He works and serves in the shop himself, together with another long standing assistant.
They wil make up and gift wrap the box, to your specifications, there and then. Normal price e2/3 per 100 grams. which is very reasonable, Gift boxes start around Euro 7 up to as big as you want. He , Robert, and the staff speak many laguages, but if he dosnt speak yours, you can always point.!!
Better Chocs and much better service than some of the more prominant Chocolate shops.
What to buy: also sells a range of pre packed confectionary, boxes, choc bars etc. The loose ones displayed on the counter are best.
What to pay: 2 to 3 euro per 100 gs.

What to buy: Chocolate 85% cacao, Passion-fruit cake
What to pay: from Euro 3,--

Puccini Bomboni is a famous local chocolate shop. Actually there are two shops; the manufacturing by hand location is at the Staalstraat branch.
At entering the shop you will be overwhelmed by the chocolate aromá and resistance is futile.
The chocolates are characterised by combining various herbs and spices, unusual alcholic drinks, fruits with chocolate.

A very big supermarket in the touristic area:
Albert Heijn (AH).
What to buy: Buy your souvenirs here!
They sell boxes with little chocolates, each packed in paper with typical Dutch pictures of Rembrandtpaintings and windmills. Good for a present!
What to pay: it is cheaper than in the touristshops.

The best place we found to buy chocolate. Their cappiccino cups are awesome. We also got candy cigarettes for the grand kids. I never seem to buy enough of this candy when I am there.
What to buy: This is the best place to buy chocolate.
What to pay: As much as you want depending on how much candy you want.

We had not consulted Trip Advisor when we booked a 7 hour layover in Amsterdam on our way to Berlin, so we were extraordinarily lucky to have happened upon this shop while wandering around. The presentation of the chocolates is artful. The execution of the chocolates is brave/clever/brilliant - I wasn't sure what to expect when I picked out a thyme chocolate, but was more than pleasantly surprised by the combination. The ingredients are all natural - purportedly sugar and butter free.
What to buy: Had I more time, and more euros, I would have tried more just for pure scientific interest - rhubarb, lemongrass, pepper, anise, plum, gin... I could go on.
What to pay: It's worth whatever they demand, honestly.

What to buy: Go to the website for a preview, but the real fun is actually going there.
What to pay: Does it really matter?
