The tulip museum (please see my things to do tip) is situated on the Prinsengracht canal opposite to the Anne Frank House. This museum is a good place to visit both for those who love gardening and those who simply appreciate the beauty of the flowers. One also finds inside this museum various souvenirs with colourful designs of tulips on them. For those who want to place advance bulb orders orders of the flowers, the prices can range from as low as Euro 8,50 for 100 Chionodoxa to as high as Euro 260 for 100 Allium Globemasters. But in the catalogue I saw Hyacinths costing Euro 60 for 100s. But at the flower market, I got 5 for Euro 1. So guess its cheaper at the market.

What to buy: Flowers / souvenirs with colourful floral designs

What to pay: Ranging from as low as Euro 8,50 to as high as Euro 260 for 100 pieces of different variety of flowers. Tulips are generally Euro 32 -36 for 100 pieces.

    Jordaan

The neihbourhood of Jordaan and the streets around it contain many small boutiques selling items that cannot be found at the more commercial shopping streets. The shops specialise in more "alternative" and individual style clothing (often with a price tag to match, of course, but you might be pleasantly surprised as well), cool and funky designer furniture and other decorative items, jewellery, art, books, gift items, CDs and vinyls, antiques, tiles and mosaic, bicycles, second hand clothes etc.

There is also regular markets (eg food, second hand books) and you can find pretty flowers from one of the small flower shops along the canals. There is also a Tulip Museum selling bulbs.
