by Liefding Flowerparade. If you think of tulips, than you think of Holland. Holland is a massiver 'producer' of flowers and yes, we export millions of them. One in a year a parade of flowers will cross the town. Every year cars and trucks will be changed with thousands of flowers. Each year the parade is in a different subject. If you like flowers and you are on that day in Amsterdam, this is a must see. Leave a Comment Directions: Amsterdam, through a specific route. Every first saturday of September.

The Waterloo Plein - Flea Market by kenbac The Waterloo Plein is the venue for the most famous Flea Market in Amsterdam. Nearly everything you can imagine is on sale here. There are a lot of clothes stalls and also many selling the usual market items i.e. hardware, tools, etc. However there are many bric-a brac stalls which are quite interesting. There is also a huge amount of "junk" for sale. God only knows what use some of it could be to anyone. Yet the whole experience is great fun and not one to be missed. If it wet or windy the stallholders don't set up. Try for a dry and calm day. Monday to Saturday!. Nothing there on Sunday! Leave a Comment Address: The Waterloo Plein

The Begijnhof by kenbac This is an enclosed living area. They were set up in the 17th Century as a safe and secure living place for women only, no men being allowed to reside there. There were many throughout Belgium and the Netherlands, however most are now gone. In the centre is a Protestant Church and in one of the houses there is a "hidden" Catholic Church. It also contains the "Wooden House" which is Amsterdam's oldest house (1477) It is an amazing and peaceful place Leave a Comment Address: Off the SpuiDirections: The Spui crosses the Kalverstraat (the main shopping street) towards the end away from the Dam

The Rijksmuseum The Rijksmuseum is the largest museum in the Netherlands and has over one million visitors a year. It is housed in a monumental neo-renaissance building designed by PJH Cuypers. Currently there are six collecting departments: Painting, Print Room, Sculpture and Decorative Arts, Dutch History, Asiatic Art, and Textiles and Costumes. On the first floor is the world's largest collection of Dutch Masters, and here you will find Rembrandts Night Watch. Besides Rembrandts there are paintings by Frans Hals, Paulus Potter, Jacob van Ruysdael, Jan Steen, and Johannes Vermeer. There are landscapes, seascapes, individual portraits, domestic scenes and Dutch still lifes which together give a good overview of Golden Age life in the Netherlands.
