The row of palacial townhouses is considered the most opulent part of old Amsterdam. They are located on the Herengracht canal near the river Amstel.
The city of Amsterdam is a maze of canals. These canals are one of the major attractions of the 'Venice of the North'.
I loved the canals in Amsterdam...they made for great photos and atmosphere... :)
You can go on a boat cruise through the canals...I recommend it for a different view of the city.
In the city centre there are lots of canals. You will have great views over them. And the houses, trees, boats....
I recommend travelling around the canals by either pedal boat or a tour. The architecture of the buildings, some as old as 350 years, are quite charming.
I could spend a day just walking across the canals. I don't care if its winter, spring or summer. It is just beautiful.

The canals really are quite beautiful. It's amazing to see how a city can have so much water all around it.
Around the Jordaan, you will find a lot of boat-houses in the canals... Just look at them and let your thoughts floating...
The boat tour through the canals of Amsterdam has been always organized to see the city from the water, very popular for tourist.
