Central Station, Amsterdam
From Schipole Airport is an easy deal to get a train...the train station is on the lower level under the airport...my 1st stop is usually the Burger King on the way downstairs. You get a train to Amsterdam and you end up at CENTRAL STATION pictured below. Its the main station in/out of the city and youll find all sorts of people..mostly young people hanging around ..the cities trams all pass in front of the train station and the service is great.SO..airport to train to tram..what could be easier??
For a good view of the area around the main railway station visit the Skylounge of the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel (11th floor). Too bad I stood here on a rainy day. June 2014.
Built in the 1880’s this is a majestic and building. Trains arrive here daily from Germany, Belgium and France. It is also the rail commuter centre for local people.
This is the place where I arrive everytime I come to Amsterdam. Beautiful train station, good trains ( double cabin up & down) and very good train services. Excellent
If you arrive in Amsterdam by train, you would stop at this amazing building, The Central Station of Amsterdam.
The photo is my own art form of the building.
The station looked better on photos I had seen of it before our trip than experienced first-hand, but nevertheless it's an impressive building.
Not only is Central Station in Amsterdam the vital hub for transportation to and from the city but it is a landmark in its own right.
And look again! And decide that next time you come, you'll make a proper examination of this building by the Dutch architect Berlage.
But not now, as we were already late-ish for the meeting.
Built on three artificial islands and maintained by 8687 piles.
