Dam Square, Amsterdam
Dam Square is the largest square in Amsterdam. It features a number of historic buildings, including the Nieuwe Kerk (New Church) and the Koninklijk Palace.
The DAM square is also used for the Kermis (fair). So, if you are lucky you can get a ride on a merry-go-round, do some shooting or amuse yourself in one of the many attractions.
Dam Square is the heart of medieval Amsterdam. It contains the Royal Palace and the New Kirke (church) along with numerous businesses housed in old buildings along the square.
You can't leave Dam Square without getting a picture in the yellow shoe. After a few Heinekens trying to drive the shoe is much better then driving your car.
Many street artists earn a little by performing on the Dam in front of the royal palace.

The Dam square is the center of Amsterdam. Damrak street goes from the square to the north. Here you can see a 'human statue' and the palace in the background
If you arrive at the Central Station, the Dam Square is usually your first stop on a walking tour of Amsterdam.
See the beautiful palace right in the center of the city.
To the right of the palace there's a church with a strange looking clock. I should have taken a pic but was too busy feeling the chill.
This square is known for all the pidgeons. The Dutch also use this square for large protests and public celebrations.
