Madame Tussaud's, Amsterdam
Even if you do not want to go in the Museum. there's lots to see on the outside of the museum. You could see mimes in action, but be warned; you are required to drop a euro coin or two if you want to take pictures of them in action.
Most of the reviews of Madame T's have made it sound a little boring. There is, of course the usual wax celebrities to pose with, including such comesy classics as Bush, Blair and M.Jackson. However, there is another side to this museum. There is an exhibition called the 'scream' which I assumed would be a bit like the scary bit of the one in London. It is not, it is the first thing like that to scare me since I was a kid! Me and my partner are 25 and 26 and we were terrified!! I won't tell you what its like and spoil it for you, go and see it!!! Discounts are availible for students from any country too!
A big surprise to some tourists is, that Madame Tussaud's is not only existing in London, but also in other cities - like Amsterdam, for example.
With a regular entrance fee of 23 Euros, one is mostly thinking twice, if the museum of wax figures will be worth it... In my opinion it is!!!
After passing the cashpoints, they take a picture of James Bond Pierce Brosnan and yourself (you receive this picture for free in the souvenir shop at the exit!!).
In a little room, the history of Amsterdam is told, which is made really nice. Also Amsterdam had a scary history...
SCREAM!!! For about 5 minutes (probably it was just one minute, but it felt like hours), they're chasing you thorugh a cabinet of wax figures and real humans - screaming, and scaring the visitors. I mean, I am a guy - but I was so scared that I screamed, too... ;-)
During the relaxing part, many many celebrities can be seen. Some look deceiving authentic, others not that much... But it's a lot of fun to take a picture with Kylie Minogue...
You'll have more fun here if you let yourself go and embrace it. Be a little silly, pose with the statues, pretend you're dancing with Beyonce, etc. If you approach it feeling self-concious or stuffy, I don't think you'd have any fun.
We went here because it's located right on Dam Square where we stayed, plus we had never been to one of the Tussauds museums before. It was the only thing from the entire trip we were disappointed with. And naturally the only thing totally made for tourists that has virtually nothing to do with the beauty and history of the city.
Over-priced, and not nearly as extensive a collection of figures as we had imagined or that one would think judging from the size of the building. Although a few of the wax figures were startlingly realistic, far too many were comically off the mark on their appearance.
I wouldn't really recommend it unless you just want to have the experience of going to a Madame Tussauds. After all, there aren't very many of them in the world.
Strike a pose with the stars (sortof) in this museum, or simply admire its exterior architecture. These photos were taken moments before a rather large carnival-amusement ride was set up in front of Madame Tussaud's Museum for koniginnedag festivites.
In this famous wax museum you can watch the entire Dutch history.
Open from 10 am to 6:30 pm
Admission price: 23 EUR (way too expensive)
Here you can see the history of Amsterdam especially the Golden Age. Really great to see.
It is situated above a department store and there is a nice few over Dam Square.
u know what that is, so also there is one in amsterdam....but here u can see de bour brothers (twins ...right?)
In Madame Tussauds Amsterdam you can meet famous Dutch and foreign personalities. There are 130 life-like wax figures on display.
The well known exhibition situated in Dam Square offers you the possibility of taking pictures with celebrities - in wax, of course :)...
This is a museum with wax statues of famous people. The royal family is in there, but also Hollywood stars and Dutch singers. I think it's rather expensive, 20 euro for one adult.
its a very nice place
the wax dolls look realy humen
its a very cool and dark place
a realy must see activety
Here you can learn more about Amsterdams history..and you will not belive your eyes when you have to touch the wax dolls to see if they are for real or not... Scary!
Don't forget to visit the waxen figures museum.
Pay attention the price of admission is not cheap!
But the waxen figures are great
