Maritime - Het Scheepvaart Museum, Amsterdam

A monument for the seafarers who died in the Second World War is currently being relocated. Hence the building activity.

Although I never actually visited it, I have seen the goings on at various stages. I loved the funeral part where the body gets thrown into the water.

Visit the VOC ship the 'Amsterdam', a replica of a real VOC ship, at the 'Scheepvaartsmuseum'.

We passed by this old sailing vessel.

We also passed many unusual houseboats, but the rain ate the photos.

The maritime museum is the best in its kind in the world. It houses in a wonderful 17th century storage house of the VOC. Outside lies a replica of an Eastindiaman.
