The tram let us off several blocks from the hotel which was a bummer as I knew some of the trams went right by the door. So I hailed a Wielertaxi (which I called a pedicab) and he pedaled us back to the hotel by 1512 for 8 euros.

I've never tried this, since I always had a rental bike and did the pedaling myself, but an alternative might be to take a three-wheeled Wieler Taxi.
These can carry two passengers each, and they are allowed to go on the bicycle lanes. I'm told the fare is 1 Euro per person for every three minutes, or 20 Euros for two people for 30 minutes. For a child aged 2 to 12 you would pay half price, and a baby sitting on your lap goes for free.
The only negative thing I have heard about these taxi-bikes is that you might get somewhat wet if there is a heavy rainstorm.

Reminds me of an Indian Autorickshaw
These vehicles remind me of an Indian autorickshaw that some tourists from the west find funny but we people from India proudly believe that that is one of the best and cheapest modes of transport, especially in traffic jams. These wielertaxis, I believe are quite similar and look great. For a pre agreed price, tourists can move around the city in them. Definitely worth the money and not at all a tourist trap.
Lazy to bike yourself?
To *me* Amsterdam is kinda like an asian city in Europe in some ways. Like this tricycle taxi...rather similar to a tuk-tuk in Thailand or a tricycles in Vietnam or China...and who knows where else.
A lot of them in the Dam area.
Travel inside Amsterdam is very easy.. You can walk to many places and tram is very efficient..
But during my last visit I had to use take many many times and as they are rather expensive I spent more money than my flight tickes for Taxis.. However some taxishave a cheaper tariff..
You just get on the back of this nice car.. Mr smiling man is taking you, where you want to go..
