The Catholic Church "Heilige Joannes Evangelist"was build in 1930. It's a great example of a building of the "Amsterdamse School".

Buitenkaag is the startpoint for a visit to the Kaag island at the other side of the Ringvaart (the circle canal around the Haarlemmermeer polder).
The ferry ride is shirt, maybe 1 minute, but remember you go across the a provincial border.
The ferry can hold 4 normal cars at maximum and some foot passenger and cyclists.
I recommend to explore the Kaag by foot; a return tickets for a foot passenger is Euro 0.90.
The ferry is operated by the Ponto company, located at Julianalaan 1A - 2159 LA Kaag.

The island of Faljeril is unknown to many; it even is not in the Virtual Tourist database.
The 4 acres island is located in the North part of the Kagerplassen lake and surrounded by the Dieperpoel (to the Kagerplassen), Ringvaart (to Buitenkaag) and the Gravenwater (to Kaag).
From 1935 the island was developped, but the the few houses on the island have no no permanent residents. Some houseboats reside at the island. On the island is a small mill, the Faljeril molen, used to drain the water from the island.
