The central church at Den Burg is the Nederlands Hervormde Kerk church.
The construction lasted from 1400 till 1452. The church was build on the remaining basis of a former church constructed of peat stone.
The tower fundament is made of big glacier stones from the Ice time.
In 1537 the wooden tower was struck by lightning and destroyed. It was replaced by a stone one financed by a tax on alcoholic drinks.
The interior of the church had been destroyed twice; first by the "Geuzen" and at the end of WWII by the Russian rebelly.
Up to today there are ongoing restaurations; the last one is to renew the roof tiles.

At Den Burg you wild find many flowers, both wild flowers as well as cultivated ones.
