Jan Wolkers was an important Dutch writer who wrote a number of books that renewed the Dutch society after WWII.

In 1980 he moved to Westermient on the island of Texel and later became honorary citizen.

He died in 2007 and his ashes were spread in his garden.

    Some of his work:
    -Serpentina’s petticoat
    -Kort Amerikaans
    -Een roos van vlees
    -Terug naar Oegstgeest
    -Turks Fruit
    -De walgvogel
    -Brandende liefde
    -Tarzan in Arles

Jan also was a sculpture. One of his best known works is NOOIT MEER AUSCHWITZ at Amsterdam.

You will encounter works by Jan Wolkers at Den Burg; maybe without knowing it.
