From Den Helder the island of Texel can be travelled to with the TESO ferry in about 20 minutes travel time. The ferries are sailing each half hour on average and take cars (300 max), bicycles and pedestrians.

The TESO ferry company started in 1907 and can look back to more than 100 years of service.

The Naval Museum is located at the Hoofdgracht in Den Helder, fifteen minutes walking distance from Den Helder railway station. You can also take bus 33 from the railway station in the direction of "Veerboot Texel" (=Texel ferry) and get off at the stop "Marinemuseum" (=Naval Museum). Another possibility is to take a "train taxi". If you travel by car, you should follow the signs: "Veerboot Texel (=Texel ferry) and "Marinemuseum" (=Naval Museum). The Naval Museum parking place is free of charge, for cars as well as for coaches. Besides, the Naval Museum is only 200 metres from the ferry landing stage, so you might consider combining your visit to the museum with a trip to the beautiful island of Texel. The journey Alkmaar - Den Helder takes about 35 minutes by train or car.
