The dike along the IJsselmeer is ideal to travel by bicycle.
A bicycle path is constructed on top of the dike and gives you a great view over both the water and the land.
You only need a sunny day, not too much wind.
Durgerdam and the Markermeer are just made for watersports. There is always wind, which makes this environment ideal for windsurfing and sailing. Amsterdam offers many possibilities to go out in a boat (just like the old sailors of the VOC once did - haha). The Markermeer stretches outside MAtsredam and Durgerdam is the first stop on the way North along the coastline of the former Souther Sea (now IJsselmeer and Markermeer).
