Popular Restaurants | Other Restaurants Tips | All Tips (15) On june 6th 2003 we went to get some chinese/cantonese food from this restaurant and to my surprise the owner and staff offered every visitor/customer something to drink for free! The food is fantastic and not expensive at all.
When u spend more than above 50 euro u get a bottle of wine or 3 times Kroepoek for free as well:-)

We had lunch here, its a kind of posh thing next to the harbour on my frontpage. But the view was great and service too. You can see the IJsselmeer and the dyke to Stavoren and also the Dromedaris ans the sailing boats coming in. Its good we had such views because it was raining heavily all the time.
They had a small but good lunch menu as well as a menu for big eaters as they called it. That is when you want warm lunch. Dutch lunch is a sandwich in most cases.

Gwyneth Beemster & Rick Jong have a very nice place for those among you who love Italian food....(I do !!)
The service is quick and they are friendly people, also willing to explain to you what certain words mean e.g..
My favourite dish is GNOCCHI (now I am not sure if I have to type the H....) but you pronounce NOKKY.
Although this dish of filled pasta squares in tomato sauce with all kind of lovely herbs etc. differs widely from place to place the best I ever had was in my own CAPITAL AMSTERDAM, at MARCO POLO, 100 - 200 meters from the Central Railway Station.....

This restaurant offers it guests, who arrive tired after a day of sailing and sunbathing, in the evening, a wide choice of fish-, meat- and vegetarian specialities.
And this all in a pleasant, informal atmosphere with an excellent service.
In short: there is nothing better than finishing a pleasant day here....
There is also a terrace where you can enjoy coffee and tea etc. during the day and.....do have lunch there.....so tasteful!
The famous DROMEDARIS towers like a beacon above ENKHUIZEN....

Several floors, very atmospheric, for a dinner à la Carte or for a special occasion such as a golden wedding day dinner......in one of the most SPLENDID 17th Century VOC buildings , situated in the very heart of beautiful ENKHUIZEN opposite the tower called DROMEDARIS (part of an old citygate through which you still can enter ENKHUIZEN.)

This place used to be the shed where members of the yachting club put their sails and masts and other things during winter when we can't sail here till the start of the new season in April.......after winter.......
Soon it became clear that people loved coming there for ice cream and "frites" and they started restoring and enlarging the building and now it is a wonderful place for:
coffee with cake
quality lunches
quality dinners
or just a "jenevertje" at the bar or on the terrace, depending on the weather...
the meals are finest quality
there is room for 150 persons
plenty of place to park your car free of charge
terrace at the waterside
and often.....live music

Enkhuizen is already for centuries a very important centre for fishing industry and hopefully will stay that somewhat longer, though many changes do not make it easy on the fishermen. The biggest change however they survived, when their sea became a lake and the water in the Souther Sea went from salt to fresh water (IJsselmeer). Now the fishermen still find their way to the North Sea to fish for hering and other salt water fish, while others specialised in the deliscious IJsselmeer-eel (paling).
