    Watermusic: excellent view

    Restaurant on top

We had lunch here, its a kind of posh thing next to the harbour on my frontpage. But the view was great and service too. You can see the IJsselmeer and the dyke to Stavoren and also the Dromedaris ans the sailing boats coming in. Its good we had such views because it was raining heavily all the time.
They had a small but good lunch menu as well as a menu for big eaters as they called it. That is when you want warm lunch. Dutch lunch is a sandwich in most cases.
This time i had onion soup (with the little bread with melted cheese on top) and a ciabatta with brie. Both very good eating.

    Yeungs Garden: Chinese take-off

    Chinese/Cantonese Restaurant Yeung Enkhuizen

On june 6th 2003 we went to get some chinese/cantonese food from this restaurant and to my surprise the owner and staff offered every visitor/customer something to drink for free! The food is fantastic and not expensive at all.
When u spend more than above 50 euro u get a bottle of wine or 3 times Kroepoek for free as well:-)
I think this chinese restaurant can easily compete with other chinese restaurant in larger cities.

Fish, in particular eel and hering: Don't miss the fresh sea food

    by Pavlik_NL Written Jun 4, 2006

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    One of many fish

Favorite Dish: Enkhuizen is already for centuries a very important centre for fishing industry and hopefully will stay that somewhat longer, though many changes do not make it easy on the fishermen. The biggest change however they survived, when their sea became a lake and the water in the Souther Sea went from salt to fresh water (IJsselmeer). Now the fishermen still find their way to the North Sea to fish for hering and other salt water fish, while others specialised in the deliscious IJsselmeer-eel (paling). Hmmm, try it, it is really very tasty.

Various national kitchens: Multicultural quisine of Holland

    by Pavlik_NL Written Jun 4, 2006

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    Very

The Netherlands are Europe's most intensive melting pot in which the multicultural society doesn't reflect more intensive then in the restuarant business. Enkhuizen - like all other smaller towns - still do have a wide choice in (inter)national restaurants such as Chinese (often combined with Indonesian), Italian, Bourgondian (French, Belgian), Indian, Thai, Mexican and - in the picture - Balkan restaurants.

BELLA VITA: ITALIAN FOOD ?? ALWAYS GOOD !!

    by eden_teuling Written Apr 15, 2003

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    RESTAURANT INFO ENKHUIZEN.

Gwyneth Beemster & Rick Jong have a very nice place for those among you who love Italian food....(I do !!)

The service is quick and they are friendly people, also willing to explain to you what certain words mean e.g..

Favorite Dish: My favourite dish is GNOCCHI (now I am not sure if I have to type the H....) but you pronounce NOKKY.

Although this dish of filled pasta squares in tomato sauce with all kind of lovely herbs etc. differs widely from place to place the best I ever had was in my own CAPITAL AMSTERDAM, at MARCO POLO, 100 - 200 meters from the Central Railway Station.....

The worst I had in HEIDELBERG once.....and....that was the most expensive to beat it all!!

DE MASTENBAR: ONCE THE SHED FOR THE MASTS (DURING WINTER) NOW

    by eden_teuling Updated Apr 4, 2011

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    RESTAURANT INFO ENKHUIZEN

This place used to be the shed where members of the yachting club put their sails and masts and other things during winter when we can't sail here till the start of the new season in April.......after winter.......

Soon it became clear that people loved coming there for ice cream and "frites" and they started restoring and enlarging the building and now it is a wonderful place for:

    coffee with cake
    quality lunches
    quality dinners

or just a "jenevertje" at the bar or on the terrace, depending on the weather...

Favorite Dish: the meals are finest quality
there is room for 150 persons
plenty of place to park your car free of charge
    terrace at the waterside
    and often.....live music
the atmosphere is great and warm, pleasant, welcoming.

    Nooit Gedacht: Recommended cafetaria/bistro

by ATLC Written Feb 26, 2013

A very friendly and clean place. The bistro and cafetaria are next to each other but separate. I also saw an attractive patio for warmer days.
The owner is an Egyptian lawyer who ended up in the restaurant business and decided to make his own croquettes (kroketten). Kroketten are the quintessential Dutch snack.
Home made croquettes however, are very very rare. Especially in a cafetaria. You would expect that in a higher end restaurant.
Anyway, they seem to be hugely popular. For Dutch readers I've included a photo of the story in the paper about it.

Favorite Dish: I had a simple apple and bacon pancake for lunch. Together with a tea no more than five euro. Hamburgers and toasties all looked good and my fellow lunchers were happy too.

    Eethuis Vrienden: Not recommended

by ATLC Written Feb 26, 2013

During the Shantyfestival (2013) one of the meals was catered by this restaurant. I cannot recommend the food. It had a burnt taste, the pasta was soggy, dessert had nice fresh fruit but a problem with the cream meant that some of us hardly got any.
We had to pay 25 euro per person for what was announced to be a 'festive meal', which in fact was one plate of messy food and a poor dessert. In a restaurant I would not have paid for this.

Favorite Dish: The restaurant menu looks nice but personally I would choose from any other of the many restaurants in Enkhuizen.

De Smederij: Highly recommended fine dining

by ATLC Written Feb 23, 2014

Recommended by Gault Millau and Michelin, this little restaurant lived up to its reputation. The restaurant (11 tables, 44 seats) was full on the Friday evening in February (winter).
Despite its fine dining cuisine, the atmosphere is informal, friendly and professional.

Mind you, the toilets are up some steep stairs. Good to know.

I was attracted by the description on their website: French/Mediterranean but above all, local products, home made bread and patisserie, plenty of half bottle wines.

    It's a lovely place for a romantic dinner :-)

Favorite Dish: We enjoyed a 4-course gourmet meal, starting with a fish food salad, then a scallop for 2nd starter and an excellent steak for main. One of us finished with a cheese platter and one with the sweet dessert consisting of 3 delicious little mini desserts.
Now, this doesn't sound like fine dining perhaps but I assure you the detail on all those dishes made all the difference.

    Eighteen: Lounging and good food

by ATLC Written Feb 23, 2014

We had a very busy programme this particular weekend and had a lovely escape from all the bustle when we chose to go to Eighteen. A Lounge/Restaurant with relaxing couches and music, plenty of guests to make it a bit lively and very attentive waiters.
Open Wednesday to Monday from noon.

Favorite Dish: Most dishes have an Asian twist which is a bit of fun on the plate. We just ate a main, a very good steak cooked perfectly to our wishes with plenty of vegetables and a spicy gravy.
