Lamp shop at Haarlem

I found many special shops in Haarlem, one of them was this shop where they sold all kinds of lamps.
I think they not only love their flowers (look how nice the front is decorated on occasion of the flowerparade) but they love to make their interior as cosy as possible.
You notice that when you look inside the pubs and the restaurants!
In the centre of the city the streets are blocked with a "raising"pillar. You need a key to let it go down and pass.
That makes the streets so great to stroll along: no cars! joepie!

I have no idea, as I was not going to buy anything I just enjoyed the goods that were sold.

You can hardly withstand the seducion to stop at a fish stand and buy some of that young herring...
Even if we can get it in Belgium, they somehow seem to taste still better in the Netherlands `-)
I suspect them to keep the best to theirselves ah! `-)

On Saturday morning there was a small market in front of the city hall.
There are certain things that will never lack on such market and that is a flower stand :-)
Those Dutch are famous for their love for flowers!

The general shopping area in Haalem consists of the main shopping street Grote Houtstraat, Barteljorisstraat and Zijlstraat. Right in the middle of the Grote Houtstraat is Verwulft. Here you can see this building, which used to be the millenniu building of Haarlem. In big red numbers it counted down untill 2000. Left and right of Verwulft is called Gedempte Oude Gracht, where even more shops are.

Haarlem is a great city to shop. You'll find many big cloting and shoe shops, and many other smaller and specialised shops. Haarlem was voted best shopping city of the Netherlands in 2000. Come and find out for yourself why.

The shop is very exciting since you can taste a lot of things before you buy it. You can buy a lot of gifts here, not only for a party, but also for yourself.

You can mostly buy Mediteranean products like mustards, dressings, oils, vinegars, sugo's pesto's among a lot of non-food things related to the food, but that's obvious right? ;-)

When it rains and you do want to shop without an umbrella, you can go to Schalkwijk. There are many shops here ith one big roof on it. A lot of them are the same as in Haarlem city centre. If you drive here yourself, get ready....you can park for free!!!

Directions: Take bus 300 from Haarlem train station or Centrum/ Verwulft and get out at Schalwijk. You'll find the mall right where you get off the bus.

Zoë is a shop where you are still helped in a personal way. The shop assistants will give you advice on what to buy and mix it wih what you intended to buy. You will always leave satisfied. The type of clothes are very casual yet very trendy IMO. Both women's and men's clothes are sold.

Zoë sells various brand, famous and not so famous. Brands include Diesel, Guess, G-sus, Indian Rags, Rare, Miss Sixty, Sabotage and many others.

This shop is not very cheap, but you will find something special here!

The Global Hemp Museum in Haarlem is a very nice and interesting place with all the information available on the wonderful cannabis plant. There is even a few plants growing inside and although they don't sell weed or hash you can certainly smoke your own while visiting the museum if you like.

	Amazing supermarket building V & D: Supermarket in a great architectural building Tip Rating:

Haarlem shopping centre

We went for a bite on the top floor of this supermarket building.
The other floors are reserved for all different kinds of stuff you can think of: food, cloths, fait divers.
The Supermarket is housed in a beautiful Art Deco building, really a piece to see, if only for the architecture!
