Ha! I m not the tourist trap....it is the big hotels and casino's at the boulevard close to the sea that are the trap: you pay far too much for having the chance to have a good view of the beach. We stayed in the dunes and we had a good time even though we had to walk half a kilometre to get to the beach.

Hmm traps that's hard. Well, when you are in a big departmentstore do watch out. Keep your wallet close to you or you might lose it by a pickpocket. Also be careful for pushy youngsters at Grotehoutstreet. They are always near the departmentstore and Mc Donalds and sometimes are looking for trouble. The police keeps an eye on them, but often that is not good enough.
The youngster on the picture maybe dressed a bit aggressive, but he was very nice ;)

Pickpockets are known to be active at the trainstation and the market.
Use the Dutch currency. It is the guilder. When using foreign currencies everybody will calculate in his own favor.... In jan 2002 the currency will be the EURO in every country of the EMU.

These clogs are in all the souvenir shops and come in all different sizes. Even the tiny pairs are way too expensive.

After being trapped four times at Amsterdam, I immediately was trapped in the first wooden shoe I encountered in Haarlem.

Though much more subdued then Amsterdam's, Haarlem does have a Red Light District. Though it is legal, I have never felt all that comfortable even walking around these areas let along utilizing them.
