It seems this corner of the Netherlands attracks the older seagulls.
There are days I think I'm looking at an old-seagulls-home.
Visit Fort Kijkduin. There is a Sea Aquarium, 200 year old tunnels, Splendid sea view and much more. You can walk the Kijkduin route and see some more fortresses.

Zus en Zo is a so-called "strandtent" (a beach restaurant). This one is build on a solid foundation of containers. Building anything on the Dutch beach always includes the danger of seeing your place washed away by the sea.
Also the prevailing SW-winds will sand anything in its path.
Nonetheless it's great to be at the Zus & Zo terrace, in the sun and seperated from the wind by glass.
It's just basics, but the food is great!
Favorite Dish: Broodje Gezond (baquette)
This restaurant/bar is located at the top of the dike with a magnificent view over the Northsea. In the summer you can enjoy beautiful sunsets while dining.

Each year the "Strandzesdaagse" (6 days on the beach) takes place. It's a long walk from Hoek van Holland to Huisduinen in six days over the beach along the Northsea.
Huisduinen is the starting point of one of the Northsea bicycle routes (as part of the international Northsea Cycle route).
Just 500 meters North of Huisduinen is a shooting range of the Dutch Navy. During actual shooting the dike to Den Helder will be closed and marked with red flags. Most shooting takes place on Wednesdays.
The KZDH (Kust Zeilvereniging Den Helder) or the Den Helder Coastal Sailing club has its residence at the most Northerly point of the beach at Huisduinen near the Zus & Zo Beach bar.
The club sails with catamarans.
The Strandzesdaagse is a six days walk along the Dutch coast starting at Hoek van Holland and finishing at Den Helder, with stopovers at Wassenaar, Noordwijk, Velsen-Noord, Egmond aan Zee and Callantsoog. The total length is about 140 kilometers.
In 1959 Henk Horsman organised the first walk with 37 co-walkers. At Huisduinen there's a small sign to commemorate this fact.
The walkers camp the nights in between in temporary camping locations and their gear is being hauled to the next stopover by the organisation.
There's a limit of 1000 walkers for this anual event. Costs are about 150 Euro.
Equipment: Waterproof tent and good walking gear for walking at the beach (in sometimes stormy conditions).
