Oudorp Off The Beaten Path
I was making a flight with a balloon on a little misty day in september 2007. We started in Oudorp, a small place near Alkmaar. When we were just a little time in the sky I saw the foundation of an old castle: Nieuwburg.
This castle was build bij Floris V (1254-1296) in 1282 together with castle Middelburg and the Torenburg near by Alkmaar. It was to defend Holland against the West-Friezen. In 1527 the both castles were led to fire by Grote Pier. In 1970 when they were supposted to build a road through this beautiful area they found the foundation of the castle Nieuwburg, and they decieded not to build a road, but to have respect for the past and make a walking-path on the foundation.
This area is beautiful, many mills and beautiful nature, soon more pictures!Related to:
