In the summer you can sail on the IJsselmeer or take a boat trip to Marken.
In some cold winters the IJsselmeer will freeze over and you can do some ice skating.

Volendam was traditionally a fsihing village on the ij. You can book a cruise from here or simply jump on the ferry to Marken.
Volendam has quite a few of the traditional Dutch Bridges in it. Also lots of traditional Dutch Architecture.
Poffertjes is a kind of mini pancake , eaten with butter and sugar.
It is a must try if you are in Holland. The one here in Volendam is really yummy.
My kids love it so much! So am I, actually.
I loved this garden we came across while wandering around some of the back streets! They obviously put a lot of effort into it and it really stands out!
This area behind the harbour is known as the Labyrinth or Doolhof as the buildings are packed so closely together.
Unofortunately I did not have enogh time to enter behind this door, but look from outside tell me it could be interesting
