Traditionally in these surroundings the farmhouses were build, but now-a-days one sees also that the villages offer quite large (especially in Dutch standards) for more wealthier residence that like to escape the busy and noisy citylife. Here in the open countryside the soil-prices are lower and the law permits building in more variations and styles. It however goes at the cost of the pretty landscapes that are quite ruined in some places by the new greed of rich and famous. there are however those who reckon and built in the style of past times.
