Restaurant / Cafe Sluiszicht: Eating while looking out over the water
sandravdp Says: The restaurant has nice seats at the backside. Here you can look out over the water while you're eating & drinking. I liked the croquettes on bread, but they have many moe local specialties.
Kaatje bij de Sluis: Excellent culinary food

Helpfulness
During the summer Café Sluiszicht is busy all day. During the day many tourists visit the café because of its nice location next to the sluice or as a stopover on a bicycle trip. There is also a terrace which overlooks the sluice and the harbour.
In the evening you will also find many locals enjoying a beer or another drink in the place.
You can also go here for something to eat, since they have a menu too.

I happen to know Beatrijs who lives in Blokzijl and works in the Hotel Kaatje bij de Sluis. She lives opposite the hotel and has a nice garden next to the sluice and the bridge. She invited me and Kim over for a bbq and it was great fun!!!
There are many flies though, well now much less, since I think we killed about a 1,000 of them while bbq'ing ;-)

Blokzijl is only a short distance away from the Weerribben National Park. The NP is best explored by canoe. Visit my Kalenberg page, which is soon to come, to read more.

I've been to Blokzijl quite some times already, and I like it everytime I'm there. It is a very picturesque small city, which looks more like a town. When in the Provincie Overijsel you shouldn't...
This lovely small harbour place is a lust for the eyes. You should see the boats here, enjoy home made ice cream and some nice croquettes on bread here.
