The idea for this unique Historical Nature museum came from the local teacher Meester Bernink.
In 1903 he wrote an article in the "Living Nature" monthly describing his plans, which got a lot of response. So, 1911 with the help of sponsors from the area the museum was opened.
Due to many free gifts the need for more space, was the reason the collection moved to the present building in 1921.
