The Dikke van Dale is named after the big dictionary of the Dutch language.
The historical building as been transformed into the grand café with much care and it's an protected landmark.
Inside you find the old book cases still filled with books, which gives some of the the rooms their unique character.
The central bar is a local meeting point and always busy and full of action.
Outside you can sit on the terras and watch the traffic heading to or coming from the IJssel river ferry.
Inside, besides a drink you can enjoy the special seasonal menu's in one of the side rooms. One advice, make a reservation if you want to eat here.
Favorite Dish: Beenham met asperges.

Safak is a Turkish-Kurdish restaurant in one of the nice smaller in between straat in the inner city of Deventer.
It's located at a corner and the big windows provide a nice outdoor view.
The interior is warm with dark furniture and candlelight.
The restaurant is run by a family and during my visit I was happy to meet three generations.
On the menu are great starters like:
-Linzensoep
-Goat cheese
-Carpaccio
-Maslow tapa's
Their are several Main course options:
-Salades
-Vegetarian
-Fish
-Numerous meat menu's (Kebap)
-Yoghurt based menu
-Tomatoe based menu
-Specials like Karisik Izgara (Lamb)
Dessert:
-Several ice creams
-Baklava

As you guess from the title, a Chinese restaurant. It's opposite the station and has a bewilderingly long menu to choose from - took us ages and a couple of beers to decide. Food very tasty, good vegetarian selection for Mrs Bonio.

Theres a portuguese restaurant near where DJ lives, its called De Dikke van Dale, and they do cracking food! we had 2 courses and 2 bottles of wine, and some beers between 4 of us for about 100 euros, the food is god damn good! i can recommend the salads!
