    The Dikke van Dale is named after the big dictionary of the Dutch language.
    The historical building as been transformed into the grand café with much care and it's an protected landmark.
    Inside you find the old book cases still filled with books, which gives some of the the rooms their unique character.

    The central bar is a local meeting point and always busy and full of action.
    Outside you can sit on the terrace and watch the traffic heading to or coming from the IJssel river ferry.
    Inside, besides a drink you can enjoy the special seasonal menu's in one of the side rooms. One advice, make a reservation if you want to eat here.

    Favorite Dish: Beenham met asperges.

    Safak is a Turkish-Kurdish restaurant in one of the nice smaller in between straat in the inner city of Deventer.

    It's located at a corner and the big windows provide a nice outdoor view.

    The interior is warm with dark furniture and candlelight.

    The restaurant is run by a family and during my visit I was happy to meet three generations.

    On the menu are great starters like:
    -Linzensoep
    -Goat cheese
    -Carpaccio
    -Maslow tapa's

    Their are several Main course options:
    -Salads
    -Vegetarian
    -Fish
    -Numerous meat menu's (Kebap)
    -Yoghurt based menu
    -Tomatoe based menu
    -Specials like Karisik Izgara (Lamb)

    Dessert:
    -Several ice creams
    -Baklava

    Favorite Dish: Linzensoep - Kepal Special - Baklava

    Theres a portuguese restaurant near where DJ lives, its called De Dikke van Dale, and they do cracking food! we had 2 courses and 2 bottles of wine, and some beers between 4 of us for about 100 euros, the food is god damn good! i can recommend the salads!

    As you guess from the title, a Chinese restaurant. It's opposite the station and has a bewilderingly long menu to choose from - took us ages and a couple of beers to decide. Food very tasty, good vegetarian selection for Mrs Bonio.

    There's a fix price for 2 hours unlimited eating and drinking. Tapas menu for € 27.50.

    Restaurant 't Arsenaal is located in the former Maria church, a building that also was used for storage of weapons and ammunition.

    It's a first class restaurant with 20 seats on the ground floor and 40 at the first floor.

    Eetcafé De Zevende Hemel is a place for having a drink and people watching. The terrace -partly next to the church- is at one of the busiest tourist spots of town and has 350 seats.

    The Volkshuis Deventer is an eatery where handicapped people work to integrate and participate in society. Each day 8 of them are coaches and guided to run the business.

    On the menu are great pies, pancakes, sandwiches, salads and soups.
    Furthermore there's tea, coffee and fresh juices.

    On thursdays you can enjoy a simple but tasty dinner after 5:30PM.

    Café De Waagschaal (named after the scales of the Waag building in front) is the oldest Deventer café. Besides having a drink, De Waagschaal offers lunches and plate service.

    In 1979 the Waagschaal was moved to the present location, a former pharmacy and later vegetable store.

    There are 70 seats inside and 80 on the terrace.
