Café het Bolwerk is the most characteristic Enschede café.
It was the location where (song)writer Willem Wilmink used to go to.

Sam Sam started as a small restaurant in one of the smaller inner Enschede streets.
It was a place for a first date dinner, wher both parties payed at a fifty-fifty basis; hence the Dutch name: Sam-Sam.
After the relocation to the Old Market square the restaurant grew in popularity and won the price for best restaurant during the Proefeet festivals several times.
Needless to say that I recommend a visit.

Daniel's Restaurant is a great place with a bit of a Greek kitchen. The food ranges from steaks, seafood to pasta's.

Central Park was formed by combining two former cafe's/bars (Drin-k-eet & de Hassebas).
The new place is a one of the bigger bars and can house some 200 people.

Enschede attracts many visitors from neighbouring Germany just for having a bite of fresh fish.
No wonder there are some fish stands in the center. Also at the daymarket on Saturdays the fish section is heavily visited.

Raw herring.
Wooden floor, long tables, cozy corners and an excellent & fast kitchen.
De Kater is overlooking the old market square and is very popular among the local students. Flat TV-screens in the back, so you won't have to miss any ongoing sport.
In front is a terras, ideal for Enschede people watching.
