    Whisper boat

Whisper boats are the unique transportation of Giethoorn. Since sailing along the canals is the only way to explore this town boat/canoe rental buisnesses are very popular there. Whisper boat gets its name from its silent motor operated by two huge batteries located under one of the seats in the boat. 4 hours or rent will cost you around 50Euro. Remember that this business is seasonal, so they must cover for all of their expenses during the Summer in order to survive the Winter :)
You'll be provided with a map that shows the possible routes to which you can take the boat. You can always go on and off the boat to buy cool beer and other drinks from all the cafes and restaurants located along the canals. However, you can always ask Pieter_Jan_V to join you, this guy is very practical and travels with his own cooler where you can store all the beers :)
Driving the whisper boat is not a problem, unless your driver is ME. Then you're in trouble. In 5 minutes I managed to zig-zag and scare most of the visitors in the area.
The boat trip in Gietoorn is a really pleasant and relaxing experience and definitely worth the money spent.
Especially on weekends you may want to arrive to Giethoorn before noon, because the whisper boats are very popular and you may end up waiting for one for a long time.

This is best way to transport yourself in and around town, since this is called "Dutch Venice"

    Prices FLUISTERBOOT rentals 2003
    1-5 pers.: € 10 for 1 hour; max. a day € 50.
    6-8 pers.: € 12 for 1 hour; max. a day € 55.
    8-12 pers.: € 15 for 1 hour;max. a day € 75.

By car from mainroad N334 along Giethoorn (Beulakerweg) take exit Giethoorn-Middenbuurt . Follow this road called (Deukten) until the end at the canalr, turn right (see signs B&B Mol/Groenewegen), drive straight ahead until you arrive at the Parking lot of C.R. 't Vonder or park earlier on a free of charge parking as we dutch always pretend to do. Walk into the foot and cyclepath called Binnenpad. After about 100 meters on your right side nr. 28. you can rent the a Fluisterboot or Whisperboat.

There are a lot boatrentals in Giethoorn but this one is cheap and good.

The months July and August are very busy so reservation is to be advised for longer rentals.

You can also rent: other kinds of boats.

This address is also a Bed & Breakfastplace.
