I know this tip is quite stupid, because in every town or city you can stroll, but Amsterdam has a very unique ambient to it, and I always have a very special feeling when I'm there. I can't say that I like the city, but there is something about the canals, coffee places, pubs and so on that make feel especially calm. So take a walk around the city (especially Jordan area), take a book with you and just find a nice place to sit in and absorb Amsterdam's atmosphere.

Favorite thing: The Netherlands:
The name is derived from the Dutch word "neder" meaning "low" and the term "LOW-LANDS",
is a reference to the low-lying nature of the land.
More than half of the country lies below the sea-level,
the highest part lies in the East and the South with a altitude of 321m (1,053 ft).
The lowest part, 7m (23ft) below mean sea level is immediatly to the North East of Rotterdam.
All this means, that they had to fight against the water.
Holland:
The country is often called this way, because after an historic region (2 provinces) in the West,
called: North and South Holland.
So referring to The Netherlands as "Holland" is like referring to Britian as England
or Belgium as Flanders.
