  • Jewish Cemetery

    The Jewish cemetery of Ootmarsum is located at the Kuiperberg, West of town.It dates from 1786. Nowadays there are 22 gravestones remaining from the period 1814 till 1928. Around 1800 there lived about 100 Jews at Ootmarsum.

  • Climb the Kuiperberg

    The Kuiperberg is a 71 meters high hill West of Ootmarsum.At the lookoff point the ANWB "oriënteertafel" (Table of orientation) is located, that gives the names of places in the view. It is a monument to commemorate the 1922 annual festivities of the ANWB (Koninklijke Nederlandsche Toeristenbond) that were held at Twente in that year.

    This "Kroezeboom" by Fleringen is one of the oldest trees in The Netherlands. Kroezeboom was in the past a tree for mark the land and was mostly a border or by a crossroad. The oak is probebly between the 400 and 500 years old.

    Watch out for the parking meters:

    Translation: Tarif 10 cents for 10 minutes; maximum parking time 1 hour.
    No change; 1 and 2 Euro coins will be accepted.

    So, when you pay with a 2 Euro coin you pay 1.40 too much!
